Geek & Geekhag 2007, No. 3

Forgot to post this last week! This one we talk about how to get rid of mice, TV.com vs Tioti.com, TV Generations, our separate clubbing experiences last week, searching for the perfect couples' calendaring solution, and common misperceptions about RFID and how to disable the RFID tag in your passport.

Geek & Geekhag 2007, No. 2

We've managed to do a podcast two weeks in a row, but failed to keep it under 30 minutes. In the first bit we talk about Ian taking his car theory test & going clubbing, our thoughts on the Apple iPhone, how to answer your mobile from your laptop using bluetooth, and a bit on Dreamweaver. The lengthier discussion on Dreamweaver/Macromedia Studio is in the additional 20 minutes, and also includes several loud screeches from myself (careful if you're using headphones!) as we've got a mischievious mouse running to and from our kitchen. You can get the short 30 minute version here, and if you're really bothered about my content management dilemmas, you can download the additional 20 minutes here.

Also you should really check out Trusted Places, if you haven't already!

Geek & Geekhag Podcast 8 Jan 2007

Our podcast is back for 2007, somewhat streamlined (only about a half hour instead of full hour). I have no idea what number we're on anymore. This time we talk about New Year's resolutions, Twitter, Xbox 360 being hacked, TV, and Christmas presents (new laptops for the both of us!).

Geek & Geekhag Podcast No 13 - Interracial Relationships

I woke up the other morning to a fairly nasty comment on a blog post I'd written over a year ago. Among other things, someone who doesn't even know me said 'I hope you never have kids'. Then I noticed there was another comment on the post that I'd missed when it originally came through. Both comments got me and Ian thinking quite a bit, and it resulted in our latest podcast on interracial relationships.

More Geek & Geekhag podcasts

I totally forgot that Ian and I did a podcast while we were in the U.S., and we did another last night:

Geek & Geekhag 10 - America: Recorded on the drive between Eau Claire and Minneapolis. Can't remember what we talked about, but I'll bet it had to do with gas prices!

Geek & Geekhag 11 - The Experience: Talked about a variety of geeky topics such as hacking the xbox 360, our fiasco with buying our Sanyo HD camcorder, movie piracy, the latest geek dinner, Rocketboom's demise, and last but not least, SNAKES ON THE MOTHERF*CKING PLANE!

4 More Geek & Geekhag Podcasts!

We did another podcast last night, at which point I realised I've forgotten to post the last three, so here they are (click the name to download):
Geek & Geekhag 6: Recorded 19 March. Reviewed some recent posts from our personal blogs, and talked about semantic web and tagging vs. categories.
Geek & Geekhag 7: Recorded 9 April 2006. Long discussion about geekdinner.co.uk
Geek & Geekhag 8: Recorded 9 April 2006. Talking about the TV Show Black White, from the perspective of a married Black British male and White American female.
Geek & Geekhag 9: Recorded 3 May 2006. Talked about the lovely racist/homophobic crap shoved through our door on the eve of local elections, then Ian talks about the We Media event. We digress to note the brilliance of Stephen Colbert, then move on to talking about online calendars. I have a big moan about plaxo.

Geek & Geekhag Podcast No 4

Ian's description: British geek and his American geekhag wife talk about geeky stuff like explaining podcasting to your mum, online identity, owning your personal online data, Blojsom for dummies, folksonomy.

Enjoy.

Digging the Diggers

Watching DiggNation, and Alex has just delivered this line: "I've got a giant hard drive right here between my legs. . ."

Oh I'll bet you do, Alex. . .

I am such a geek hag. I love this show. I can't say I find Alex quite as appealing as Kevin, but he certainly has his moments. Apparently I'm not the only girl lusting after Kevin. . .Ian met up with a girl at a talk in Oxford who started a Kevin Rose fan club on Live Journal. She told Ian to tell me "hands off, he's mine".

Pimples and podcasts

I have a spot on my face that is so big, my co-worker is referring to it and myself as "You two". I am 29 and 1/2, is this teenage skin ever going to go away?

In other news, our third podcast is up. It is some rambling stuff about mobile phones, bluetooth, and the fact that the first application of most technological advances is sexual.

Geek & Geekhag Podcasts now available

After ages of discussion, Ian and I finally started doing a podcast called "Geek & Geekhag". We've done two so far, it will likely be a weekly thing, so long as we have time and can think up something interesting to chat about. The first two are available below:

Geek & Geekhag Podcast 1 - RSS

Geek & Geekhag Podcast 2 - WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor)

We'll see if anyone out there is listening.
